TELEMEDICINE CONSULTATIONS

Telemedicine consultations offer another option to improve access to healthcare services. This method is another option if you are unable to come in for an office visit, if you live out of town, or simply if you wish to speak to one of our physicians from the comfort of your home.

What is a Telemedicine Visit?

A Telemedicine visit is a video conference with a physician using a HIPAA compliant software. We highly recommend you use a laptop or computer for your visit, but you can participate in a telemedicine visit with a tablet, phone, or any internet- capable device with video and microphone access. Sensitive medical information will be discussed so please ensure that your privacy is intact.

How to Schedule a Telemedicine Visit

To schedule a telemedicine visit, you have two main options.

Email Us

You can choose to email us at caribbeanhypospadiascentre@gmail.com. We will reply to your request within 24 hours. Please do not upload any formal medical records or images via the e-mail address listed above. It is provided to facilitate general communication only. All medical record information including images are uploaded via Doxy.me, an approved Hipaa compliant software system.

Book An Appointment

You can visit the hypospadias services website: www.caribbeanhypospadiascenter.com and utilize the scheduling link. Please ensure you choose the visit type labeled “Visit- Telemedicine”. You can then choose from the available time slots listed in the scheduling application.

Payment for the telemedicine visit is a flat fee which must be paid prior to the telemedicine visit. Upon payment, a receipt will be issued which can be used to interface with your insurance provider assuming that your policy allows for reimbursement. You are advised to check with your insurance carrier to verify reimbursement if this is your expectation from your insurance provider.

The Telemedicine Visit Process

Step 1

Ensure you have arranged personal affairs in your immediate environment to conduct your consultation in a quiet area. This may require you to arrange childcare/supervision so that you are not disturbed as you conduct your telemedicine visit.

Step 2

Before the telemedicine starts, write down your questions and concerns for the doctor. Make sure you have writing material to record your understanding of issues discussed.

Please ensure you have access to pertinent medical records and any pictures of your son’s condition. Be prepared to upload appropriate images via the Doxy.me platform which is cybersecure and HIPAA compliant.

Step 3

The doctor will conduct a thorough review of the most recent medical records and pictures of the patient’s condition in preparation for the consultation. These consultations are typically about 30 minutes in length, similar to a physical consultation.
