What is a Telemedicine Visit?
A Telemedicine visit is a video conference with a physician using a HIPAA compliant software. We highly recommend you use a laptop or computer for your visit, but you can participate in a telemedicine visit with a tablet, phone, or any internet- capable device with video and microphone access. Sensitive medical information will be discussed so please ensure that your privacy is intact.
How to Schedule a Telemedicine Visit
To schedule a telemedicine visit, you have two main options.

You can choose to email us at caribbeanhypospadiascentre@gmail.com. We will reply to your request within 24 hours. Please do not upload any formal medical records or images via the e-mail address listed above. It is provided to facilitate general communication only. All medical record information including images are uploaded via Doxy.me, an approved Hipaa compliant software system.
Book An Appointment
You can visit the hypospadias services website: www.caribbeanhypospadiascenter.com and utilize the scheduling link. Please ensure you choose the visit type labeled “Visit- Telemedicine”. You can then choose from the available time slots listed in the scheduling application.
Payment for the telemedicine visit is a flat fee which must be paid prior to the telemedicine visit. Upon payment, a receipt will be issued which can be used to interface with your insurance provider assuming that your policy allows for reimbursement. You are advised to check with your insurance carrier to verify reimbursement if this is your expectation from your insurance provider.

Yes, there is a private pay flat fee of $150.00 US for each telemedicine video consultation. This fee must be paid before the visit. A receipt is provided to you upon payment to interface with your insurance company provided your insurance policy reimburses for telemedicine visits. The percentage (%) of reimbursement is dependent upon details within your insurance policy. Differences between the flat fee rate and the reimbursement sum verified with the insurance company will require payment before the telemedicine consultation is held.
This depends on your specific benefit plan. If you would like to determine this, call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask if you have telehealth benefits. Some insurances only cover telehealth benefits through certain telehealth software so be sure to ask if they cover Doxy.me. Once you have that information be sure to get a reference number for the call and the person you spoke with so we can verify the information provided is correct.
If you have an in-network insurance plan that covers telemedicine care, these fees are defined by your specific plan. The most common insurance fees we see allowed between $200.00-$450.00 USD for a telemedicine video consultation. Your benefits will determine who will pay that amount.
The Caribbean Hypospadias Centre offers a flat rate of $150.00 USD which includes email correspondence and a telemedicine video consultation. If you decide later that you would like to seek reimbursement from insurance, we provide receipts and records for your visit so that you can submit that to your plan.
We provide a proven cyber secure product for all our telemedicine services. We utilize Doxy.me which is a HIPAA-compliant telemedicine service. A link is forwarded prior to the telemedicine consultation allowing you to test the service and be sure you can use it on your computer. A strong internet connection is required.
